My experience at Jesus Lifehouse

I will still continue with the NEXT STEPS series, but today I’ll post one of the stories 🙂

For those who are wondering “what kind of people go to Jesus Lifehouse Osaka International church?” you can read their stories through my blog!

Today I will introduce Allison!

1) How long have you been in Japan?

This time, I have been in Japan since the end of June 2012.

2) How did you come to Jesus Lifehouse?

Before I left the U.S. I wanted to find a church in Osaka, so I searched online ‘international church in Osaka’ and I found Jesus Lifehouse!!

3) How have u changed since coming to this church?

I have become so free from my past because I know God has already put it far from me and I have let it go myself!

I am looking to Him daily: thanking Him for the blessings that I have received and am receiving; asking Him for help, strength, energy, and patience at work; getting encouragement reading His word and journaling; and praying for my friends.

I couldn’t make it through a day at my job just leaning on my own strength, but when I put everything on Him and trust Him my whole day goes a lot smoother!

4) What team do you serve in?

I serve on the Welcome Frontline team and the Packdown team

5) What do u like about your team?

I love serving on the Frontline team because everybody is so passionate!

I started serving on the team less than a month after my first time at church and it was so amazing how welcoming everybody was to have a newcomer on their team! I got to meet so many new people by being a part of the team, both other team members and the people I am welcoming!

The Frontline team was also one of the things that stood out to me the most when I first came to Jesus Lifehouse! They were so excited about me being there and I could tell they really genuinely interested in everybody around them. So when I got to join the team I thought I want to be able to be that person for another newcomer!

6) What is your vision?

I want to lead a Lifegroup of young women and help encourage them in their walk with God and help them overcome insecurities and let go of their past and help them recognize that they have a great purpose and a wonderful future awaiting them!

7) Anything you want to say to people from overseas( living in Japan or elsewhere) thinking to join this church?

THIS CHURCH IS AMAZING!!!! The passion for God and loving one another is really evident at Jesus Lifehouse!

You can learn to be a great leader and apply it really fast here too! The messages are applicable to your every day life and really easy to understand.

There are so many ways you can get involved and make new friends: joining a Lifegroup, joining a team (Welcome Team, Media Team, Stage Management Team, Dance Crew, etc.); and going to outreach events (Streetband, Cafe outreach). Almost once a week somebody has a house dinner party or we all go out to eat or karaoke after church! It’s so much fun being with everyone and doing outreach building up the kingdom of God!

8) Favorite scripture and comment

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11

I grew up in a Christian family, and my dad would, and still does, quote this verse all of the time.

There was a time in life when I believed that this wasn’t true, though, and I gave up on my future. But after returning back to God and giving Him my life again, I have come to accept this truth and promise – God has an amazing plan for my life!!!!

It’s a truth and promise I want other people to know as well. We all go through rough times, even as Christians, but if we hold on to this promise and trust God we can live in this amazing future He has planned for us!!
